Sailor Moon, the 90s zeitgeist-defining manga turned anime has collaborated once again with the master cobblers at Jimmy Choo on a colourful capsule collection to complement the series’ protagonists. Jimmy Choo X Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon focuses on the iconic Sailor Guardians from the beloved anime, featuring footwear, and a variety of fabulous accessories reminiscent of those that each protagonist would carry themselves.
Launching 9 October in select stores globally and online, the capsule is a celebration of the manga that Naoko Takeuchi first published over 30 years ago.
Showcasing nine designs, the shoes in the collection each relate to a specific Sailor Guardian’s style. Boots, heels, trainers, and Choo’s signature Marlow Moccasins are all present, representing each character’s signature fashion. Sailor Chibi Moon is represented by a girlish pink knee-high boot, whereas the green crystal adorned pump makes perfect sense for Sailor Neptune who shadows as classically trained musician during the day. Every detail is related, down to the soles of the shoes, which all feature a related astrological emblem to the character being represented.
Other accessories are stamped with original artwork by creator Naoko Takeuchi, including totes, scarves, and handbags. Choo, being known for their playfulness in design and product, is also launching collector cards as part of the capsule. An exciting 24 exclusive designs in packs of three are available with every purchase from the collection with each card featuring each Sailor Guardian. Lifelong super fans should expect some rarities.
Focusing on ideas of transformation, as the girls within the original story go through fantastical evolutions, the collaboration is a testament to female power, from both the creator of Sailor Moon, Naoko Takeuchi, and Jimmy Choo’s creative director Sandra Choi. Taking inspiration from Takeuchi’s boundary-breaking characters, the capsule collection proves fashion doesn’t have to compromise femininity for strength.
