From looking at iconography to modern-day pop references, Hugo Comte and Ib Kamara's Testament helps question the relationship we hold with our past in order to make sense of the present.

Opening to the public on 4 February is Galerie Hussenot's new exhibition Testament, which will unveil an encapsulating array of 15 monumental photographs by French photographer Hugo Comte. The exhibition comes as the photographer's first solo showing, made even more exciting by the news that each photograph has been produced in collaboration with fashion's hottest stylist, Ibrahim Kamara.
Transcending times, beliefs and cultures, Testament provides a philosophical answer to the question, 'What are beliefs made of?' By looking to the past to inform the rich stylistic language created by Comte and Kamara, Testament's images flip taking inspiration between the past and the modern day. Iconographic references sit alongside odes to pop culture as the two are merged to create one harmonious depiction of our ancestors.
The exhibition will be available until 26 February 2022 at Galerie Hussenot, in partnership with La Cité.
