Gucci and Christie's second collaborative auction brings together nine artists working with generative technologies, who took the moral and aesthetic values of the Italian heritage brand as their starting points.

In 2022, the Italian heritage brand Gucci launched an online space dedicated to reimagining house codes through digital art. The Art Space exists as a digital concept store and environment; a slice of the Gucci Metaverse which includes NFTs and was inaugurated with The Next 100 Years of Gucci online exhibition and auction. This set the scene for a partnership with Christie's - both household names were early proprietors in Web 3.0. Intersecting technology, art and fashion, Gucci and Christie's second auction is now open until 28 November

Titled Parallel Universes: From Future Frequencies to Gucci Cosmos, it's the first under Gucci's new artistic director Sabato De Sarno, who joined the house in January. Gucci Cosmos is the name of the exhibition currently on show in London at 180 Strand which explores the brands 102-year-long history, and the new auction will build upon this narrative by bringing together nine different avant-garde artists who are proposing ideas positioned in the 'future realities' Gucci has invested many resources into being a part of.

Each of the artists included are working with generative systems such as AI to create visual output, and were tasked with the responding to rooms from the London exhibition which explore archival and aesthetic themes in Gucci's history, such as equestrianism and flora.

Artists include Alexis Andre, Alexis Christodoulou, Amy Goodchild, Harvey Rayner, Jacqui Kenny, Jo Ann, Melissa Wiederrecht, Sasha Stiles, and Thomas Lin Pedersen.

Alexis Andre, 'Birth'. "Birth is the result of a generative algorithm that takes inspiration from venation patterns mixed with gravitational forces to represent this branching central structure that radiates outwards as an homage to the legacy at play here."

Parallel Universes: from Future Frequencies to Gucci Cosmos is now open for bidding until 28 November, 2023 on the Gucci Art Space.
