Matthew M. Williams, creative director of Givenchy, continues to refocus the aesthetic of the luxury house since being appointed to the role in 2020. The launch of his S/S 22 collection is infused with the art of American multimedia artist Josh Smith from concept to garment. Smith's work, known for his use of scorching-hot colour and grim reaper motifs, is incorporated into prints and patterns alongside Williams' austere black designs, marking a decidedly punkish turn for Givenchy. The collection originally debuted at La Défense Arena in Paris back in October 2021, the creative output stemming from time Williams spent time at Smith's New York studio.

The accompanying campaign sees the return of Kendall Jenner as one of the muses of the brand, in photos shot by Heji Shin and reworked with the brushstrokes of Smith, and a suitably moody video lensed by videographer Errol Rainey. The collection arrives online and in stores on 18 February.
