Givenchy's The Wonder Gallery capsule collection injects a bout of playful nostalgia into the French luxury house by paying homage to some of creative director Matthew M Williams' favourite Disney characters.

Located somewhere between Paris and Los Angeles, Givenchy's The Wonder Gallery is an imaginary realm disguised as a Disney-inspired capsule collection, featuring limited edition t-shirts and sweatshirts, all with classic Disney iconography and character silhouettes accompanied by Givenchy signatures. A playful and nostalgic homage to his childhood memories and the memories of others, Williams commented on the cultural importance of Disney, stressing the joy it has brought many people over the years.

'Disney has always held a special place in my heart as it has for so many across generations, countries and cultures.' Williams spoke. 'As a boy from California and a father in Paris, Disney has always been a source of meaningful moments throughout my life. It's a true honour to bring out two iconic brands together for this project.'

Givenchy isn't the only luxury label to appreciate Disney's cultural cache of late; Stella McCartney has too made noise about her love and respect for Disney, even going as far as to base her brand's International Women's Day collection around the Minnie Mouse mascot. However, rather than focus on one well-loved character, Givenchy's capsule has stretched far and wide to include as many as possible, collaborating closely with the talented artists from Disney to design pieces featuring favourites such as Bambi, Perdita and Pongo from 101 Dalmatians Elsa and Olaf from Frozen and the Disney heritage character Oswald, the Lucky Rabbit. Givenchy's 4G emblem and padlock appear as leitmotifs, visually linking the Parisian couture house and the Magic Kingdom throughout The Wonder Gallery.

The first Disney and Givenchy capsule collection launched in select locations on 17 May 2022. A second capsule will follow in mid-summer.
