Every menswear enthusiast active in the early aughts will agree that when it came to designer denim no one was doing it like Dior Homme. At the time, then-creative director Hedi Slimane’s impeccably tailored jeans ushered in the era of skinny jeans. Fast forward almost two decades and we’ve more than moved on from the thigh-hugging designs in favour of more modern relaxed fits. Cue: Kim Jones. The creative director of Dior Men’s is dropping a capsule collection of denim staples, appropriately dubbed Dior Denim.
Under Jones’ tenure, Dior Men’s has been defined by a relaxed silhouette with nods to streetwear, workwear, and the maison’s extensive haute couture history. The upcoming launch of Dior Denim is well in line with this penchant for modern, functional elegance with the lineup of relaxed-fit jeans.
Crafted from eco-friendly cotton the jeans feature workwear-inspired details including durable panels that harken to classic carpenter trousers. From deep indigo to the maison’s signature grey, the trousers feature refined details like a Dior embossed leather back-patch, and a stitched Dior Oblique motif are nod’s the house’s couture heritage.
With the everyday uniform in mind, the capsule collection is more than just trousers. Rounding off the collection are shirts, trainers, and brags. A play on skateboarding trainers the B33 model features a flat, chunky sole, and playfully oversized laces. Light fading throughout the collection highlights the casual ease at the heart of Jones’ Dior. With a skinny-jean revival still far off, we couldn’t imagine a more covetable lineup of designer denim.
The Dior Denim collection drops on 19 October.
