Harrods' Christian Dior ties are unbreakable. Over 70 years, the luxury department store has been the chosen home for the French house's many boutiques; whether it be their first men's space dedicated to the Sacai collaboration, their 60s-inspired pop-tastic world which opened up last summer, displaying the wonderfully kitsch Dior homeware or their Dior and Rimowa pop-up, desirable Christian Dior objects have come in a range of styles at Harrods over the years.
Paying tribute to this unique bond, a kinship if you will, the French luxury brand have dreamt up a magical new mise-en-scène on each floor of the London department store. Titled The Fabulous World of Dior, their latest - and arguably greatest - venture yet with Harrods, Christian Dior has invited customers into a winter wonderland spectacle, just in time for the impending gift-giving Christmas period.
From 10 November until 3 January 2023, the facade of the famed Brompton Road address will be adorned with a display of lights featuring Dior emblems as well as an installation reinterpreting the compass rose; a symbol treasured by the founding couturier. The window decor will depict everything you can possibly buy from the maison including fashion, perfume and jewellery to beauty and homeware. Magnifying the enchantment, pop-ups, a cafe and a Dior micro-village will also be spread across the department store, surprising thousands of visitors with treats daily.
Never before have Dior done a collaboration on this scale with a department store, making this a one-of-a-kind (Santa's Grotto has even checked out this year, giving way to the magnificence of the takeover). The interior, as well as the exterior, has undergone a makeover as Dior have replaced the season's usual red and green hues with warm dusky hazel colours such as cookie browns, caramel, cinnamon and powdered sugar whites take over the structure. These colours also appear in the mini-Dior city featured thanks to its animated tableaux made from varying sizes of gingerbread cookies, piped icing and multicoloured candy. This Christmas, it's not a man's or woman's world at Harrods, it's Christian Dior's.
