Teamwork makes the dream work must be Kim Jones’ favourite saying, considering how many collaborations the Dior Men’s artistic director has under his belt. Unless social media isn't your forte, you won't have missed the maison's latest collaboration with Denim Tears by Tremaine Emory. While Jones unveiled his Dune-esque dessert explorer collection in front of the Great Pyramids of Giza on Saturday, it was a more intimate soiree the evening before at Cairo's Grand Egyptian Museum where the luxe-streetwear capsule was presented.

Dior Tears

Dubbed Dior Tears, an amalgamation of the brand's monikers, the capsule collection proved that Jone's penchants for elevated streetwear isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Founded by American consultant, and creative director of Supreme, Tremaine Emory is no stranger to collaborations himself recently releasing collections with both Levi's and Uggs. Using Denim Tears as a way to reclaim painful narratives of the black American experience, for this partnership Emory was inspired by the early 19th century and the founding of Jazz, along with segregation and the art that came out.

'I want to share that moment in time, that beautiful moment in time where black writers and musciains and artists were coming from America, running from America, and finding some level of acceptance in certain European cities and being able to have their art respected and who they are respected', Emory explains.

Dior Tears

Inspired by artists like Miles Davis and James Baldwin who found refuge in Paris, Emory combined Parisian luxury, American streetwear, and the varsity style of the Black Ivy League. Everyday staples including caps and bucket hats are redone in cotton and fuzzy mohair, were styled with varsity inspired jackets complete with embroidery. Of course, the streetwear influence means the introduction of a new it-trainer from Dior Men's head footwear designer Thibo Denis. Keeping with the mohair motif, suede low-top trainers were crafted with fuzzy mid-soles and chunky laces. Rounding off the partnership between the creative forces, Dior bags, including the signature Saddle are tagged with Denim Tears' wreath logo, which is also stamped on oblique printed denim sets.
