Dior Has Opened A Space Exclusively For Accessories
Monsieur Christian Dior was catapulted to iconic couturier status with the introduction of the ‘New Look’ in 1947. Fresh off his first collection the ultra-feminine silhouette (defined by its cinched waist and full skirt), made Dior one of Paris', and the 20th century's leading couturiers. While his predecessors have lived up to this legacy in their own right with fantastical couture creations, there is one area they've all surpassed the maison's founder: accessories. From the Saddlebag to current creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri's instantly recognisable Book Tote, the brand today is arguably just as known for its bags, shoes, and jewels than its contemporary renditions of the era-defining Bar jacket.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the purveyor of Parisian style would be opening a shop dedicated to its lineup of covetable accessories. London's iconic department store, Harrods will be the home for the brand's accessories-only space showcasing its emblematic it-bags along with sunglasses and shoes straight from the runway. Expect timeless styles like the Lady Dior and Lady D Lite getting a revamp in shades and prints from the A/W 23 collection. The space will also feature a colourful "Diorama" wall installation that invites guests on a journey through the maison's history with miniature creations spanning from Monsieur Dior's first collection in 1947 to Maria Grazia Chiuri's latest.
Dior's accessories-only space is open now at Harrods.
