Reflecting a renewed sense of self-affirmation, Maria Grazia Chiuri's Dior A/W 22 womenswear campaign connects past with present, by paying homage to those who contributed to Monsieur Dior’s success most.
Brought to life through a series of group portraits, artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri tapped photographer Alice Mann to capture a campaign aimed at connecting the house's impressive historic path with a modern present, one which paid homage to those who contributed to Monsieur Dior's success most, from his sister Catherine to muse Mizza Bricard and loyal collaborator Marguerite Carré.
Through reflecting a renewed sense of self-affirmation, powerful multiform femininity is highlighted, underpinning the campaign's tone. The emblematic Dior family burlap bags have been transformed into a symbol of sisterhood, and in keeping with the line's inspiration, mottos like L'union fait la force ('Strength through unity') adorn skirts and jackets, as well as the iconic Dior Book Tote.
Through the South African artist's lens, Christian Dior A/W 22 womenswear comes to life, expressing fundamental values such as togetherness and sharing. Bags like the Lady D-Joy, Lady Dior, Dior Vibe and Diorcamp are littered throughout the campaign's imagery, all of which are considered the quintessence of Dior style by the house and its clients.
