Here's what to expect from the house's latest artistic collaboration, unveiled on 8 December as part of the Fall 2021 menswear collection.
Kim Jones has selected American artist Kenny Scharf to collaborate with Dior on the Fall 2021 menswear collection. Not unveiled until the show on 8 December 2020, the partnership follows in the steps of previous collaborations with the likes of KAWS, Raymond Pettibon, Daniel Earsham, Hajime Soroyama, Shawn Stussy and most recently, Ghanaian artist Amoako Boafo.
Jones has steered Dior Men's into exciting new territories, whether that be via the counterculture-fused hand of Stussy, or the mesmersing portraits and colour palette of Boafo. The announcement of the house's latest collaboration with Scharf will surely see Dior men's take another new direction. Scharf's work is emblematic of 1980's New York. He creates a joyful and bright universe via cartoonish and wonderfully bulbous shapes and forms. With only just over a week to go until it's unveiled, we're predicting Scharf's graphic work might be translated via intarsia knits and prints, like we saw with the Stussy collaboration. What's more likely is that Jones will present something completely surprising, but equally brilliant - after all, that's what he does best.
