The must-see quarterly report by the Lyst Index ranks fashion brands and products, with their take on the first quarter reflecting the undying obsession for that Miu Miu mini-skirt and Kim Kardashian wrapped in Balenciaga sticky tape.

Surveying the behaviour of over 160 million visitors to the global shopping platform Lyst between January and March, while gathering worldwide sales and statistics for over 17,000 brands, the first quarterly results for the Lyst Index 2022 are finally in. It should come as no surprise that Miu Miu, the sister brand to Prada, has entered the top 10 rankings, with that viral S/S 22 mini skirt placing third in the hottest women's product list. Having done the rounds on the internet, worn by Nicole Kidman and Paloma Elsesser for publications to becoming the uniform for the street style set, Lyst reveal that Miuccia Prada's skimpy take on tailoring has resulted in a whopping 400% increase in searches for the brand over the last three months.

Back in January, Ye (Kanye West) decked out his then-girlfriend Julia Fox in head to toe Diesel by Glenn Martens for a special Interview spread. Although certainly not the only driving factor behind the Italian brand's renaissance under Martens, with the belt skirt and Y2K-style glittering alien models seen on the A/W 22 runway in Milan clearly made with the TikTok generation in mind, Ye's seal of approval was perhaps the first indication that the 40 year old brand is truly resonating with consumers again. Dubbed 'the quarter's fastest rising brand', Diesel have climbed 31 places in the chart, resting at number 15 - with the last brand to jump so far, so fast, being Off-White in 2017. Laying forth his new vision for the once iconic brand to take the fashion world by storm as it did in the 80s and 90s, Martens is on a roll.

Then there's Rick Owens. After spending six months outside the top 20, the Paris label has jumped nine places, re-entering the hottest brands list at number 16 thanks to global searches for the French luxury label rocketing 68%. Staying on top is Balenciaga for the third successive time, with demand for the brand having increased 108%. Whether it be the viral Le Cagole shoulder bag and boots, the star of a recent pop-up in their London store, or Kim Kardashian waddling to her seat at the A/W 22 show wrapped in BALENCIAGA tape, both designer Demna Gvasalia's must-have products and shows which resonate with cultural moments including the war in Ukraine and global warming are proving to be a sizzling succcess.

Platform shoes also seem to have fashion gawking. Those Naked Wolfe platforms you've probably seen on the street (if not on TikTok) - worn by the likes of Hailey Bieber and Kourtney Kardashian - have been declared as the hottest women's product, with the Valentino Garavani Tan-go platform pumps following not too far behind, taking 8th position. Shoes in general have had a good run in 2022 so far it seems, with footwear making up 60% of the hottest products to date. New Balance was also the only brand to feature in both the men's and the women's hottest products lists and Ugg's classic ultra mini boot also came in a strong second place.
