Designer Nasir Mazhar Presents Debut Solo Exhibition In Margate

Designer Nasir Mazhar was well on his way to becoming one of London fashion’s biggest names. Previously working with Lady Gaga and counting the likes of Rihanna and Madonna among his superstar clients, Mazhar’s talents are undeniable. From 2017 to 2019, the designer was lauded for his radical shows at London Fashion Week and was gearing up to be the next big name among the city’s design talent. Still, behind the scenes, the unforgiving cyclical nature of the industry left him questioning if it was really worth pursuing. It’s this journey that’s at the centre of Mazhar’s debut solo exhibition, 'I Always Wanted To Show You Mine'.

Taking place at 243 Luz gallery in Margate, the exhibition presents two decades worth of documentation from Mazhar’s vast archive. Rejecting the traditional fashion system, the creative pioneer founded the collective Fantastic Toiles (which previously collaborated with SHOWstudio on a live shoot and pop-up) to give designers and artists control over how they create and sell their work. This notion of creative control is at the heart of the exhibition, which explores Mazhar’s process. A collection of photographs, objects, garments, and hats, the exhibition presents an intimate portrait of the artist’s experimental work.
