Christopher Kane Launches Latest Festive Collection
Despite less and less reasons to leave the house this month due to the country's temporary lockdown leading up to Christmas, design duo Christopher and Tammy Kane have still found a reason to glam-up with their latest festive collection. Shot, directed and modelled by recent Central Saint Martins graduate Joe Bates from the comfort of his own home, the overall theme of the collection and shoot is an ode to going out while staying in.
The young stylist and Central Saint Martins graduate was commissioned by Christopher and Tammy Kane to model the collection after Bates caught their eye, contributing to issue 1 of PLATFORM during the Summer. Bates, who previously assisted stylist Ibrahim Kamara, also was featured in SHOWstudio's Class of 2020 project this summer. Featuring in a panel discussion chaired by fashion editor Kacion Mayers, Bates spoke about his final year project Lokko, which was based on the designer's experience of performing to the white gaze growing up mixed race whilst surrounded by a predominantly white family, in a white area of suburban England.
Balancing the brand's signature lace keyhole cut-outs with crystal embellishments and velvet fabrics, the images are nothing short of some sparkly festive glamour to cheer spirits ahead of what is set to be a somewhat unusual Christmas. Known for his theatrical imagery, Bates has made sure to capture the Christmassy glamour of the season that sees him all dressed up with nowhere to go.
