The ultimate tome ‘Chanel: The Impossible Collection’ celebrates the work of Gabrielle Chanel

Today sees the release of the latest volume in publishing house Assouline’s ‘Ultimate Collection’ series, Chanel: The Impossible Collection. Curated by fashion journalist Alexander Fury, the book celebrates the work of Gabrielle Chanel whilst at her eponymous couture house and includes 100 Chanel looks definitive of the house’s history.

From Coco to Karl, the book includes a range of iconic and signature Chanel designs from the timeless little black dress, two-toned pumps and tweed suit, to the apothecary-style perfume bottle and diamond quilted leather handbag, as well as Lagerfeld’s contemptuous but modern interpretations of her original design codes. With 232 pages and over 180 illustrations, the book also showcases images from the world’s foremost editorial photographers, museums and private collections, as well as rare archived photos.

Published by Assouline, the title is hardbound using traditional techniques and printed on art-quality paper, and complimentary white gloves and signature canvas tote bag are included with each purchase.

Chanel: The Impossible Collection is available to buy now here.
