Introducing an elevated, free-spirited identity to Casablanca's design codes, creative director Charaf Tajer and art director Steve Grimes have looked to the lost city of Atlantis to inform the luxury brand's new sneaker design, sculpting their own unique perspective in the trainer market. Having previously collaborated with New Balance on a series of sell-out designs, the Atlantis marks the first time the brand has created a cult sneaker entirely its own.
Born out of the Casablanca atelier, developed in Italy, and crafted in South-East Asia, the shoe's design process marries comfort and wearability with a carefully-considered design aesthetic. As for the trainer itself, the upper adopts the classic design language of timeless sports shoes thanks to its perforated leather and punchy suede accents in contrast to the liquid movement of the wave sole. The design provides a direct link to Atlantis' mythological connections between water and storytelling, together with Casablanca's après-sports aesthetics.
Intending to craft a silhouette that was 'shockingly beautiful', the sneaker's inimitable curvature is an example of Casablanca continuing to redefine contemporary luxury.
Casablanca’s Atlantis sneaker is due to drop as a brand-exclusive online on November 16.
