Bectu (the Broadcasting, Entertainment, Communications and Theatre Union) has agreed to set up a branch representing self-employed people working in fashion, making it the first ever union to represent fashion's many freelancers.

Thanks to Fashion Roundtable and Bectu (the Broadcasting, Entertainment, Communications and Theatre Union), fashion assistants and stylists can join the first ever union explicitly created for fashion's many freelancers based in the UK.

Not signed up yet? To celebrate this monumental achievement in being the first ever union to represent freelancers in fashion, Bectu are offering a special discount joining rate for fashion assistants and stylists over the next two weeks - meaning, instead of a £10 a month subscription, you can sign up for juts £7.50 a month for the first year.

With uncertain times ahead, it's more important than ever to make sure your voice is not only heard but listened to and respected; trade unions can help with that. For all the fashion assistants and stylists out there, you can make a difference to your future if you sign up today, working towards better pay, work conditions, and overall worker's rights in fashion.
