Browns and AMIRI's Capsule Collection Pays Homage To Fashion and Music
It may not be obvious what connects AMIRI, the streetwear brand based in sunny Los Angeles, with London's Brook Street, just a stones throw from Savile Row and the birthplace of perfectly tailored suits. But behind the doors of number 38, a new AMIRI capsule collection and installation is right at home amongst the contemporary selection of brands at the renowned retailer Browns.
The exclusive AMIRI for Browns collection is a natural progression of the brand's roots in music, specifically explored for AMIRI's A/W 23 collection. The capsule was directly inspired by a jam session at hip-hop producer DJ Premier's studio, leading designer and founder Mike Amiri to conceive the Browns collection around the concept of a soundtrack. The collection, just like a track list, discovers new rhythms and materials.
Consisting of 22 unisex pieces, the capsule combines casual comfort with elements of men's tailoring, infused with the style of 50's Americana and hip-hop.
‘Browns has an incredible reputation for housing the most innovative and prestigious brands in the world,’ says Amiri. ‘We really admire the store’s commitment to this ethos and unique way of presenting its collections. These values resonate with our own, and there was a shared vision that came together very easily and organically.’
Showcased at the flagship boutique in the heart of London's Mayfair in line with Frieze art fair, the Focus Room of Browns Brook Street has been transformed into a vinyl haven of an installation, including a curation of vinyls by Phonica Records.
The AMIRI for Browns collection is available online at brownsfashion.com and in store at Browns Brook Street from 11 October.
