Inspired by the Arabic term ‘majlis' - symbolising gathering and togetherness - Bottega Veneta's recently debuted ‘The Square Dubai’ acts as fashion's sacred gathering place.
The Arabic term 'majlis' - symbolising togetherness - lends itself to creative director Matthieu Blazy's latest project for Bottega Veneta The Square, a sacred fashion temple and gathering place, providing a cultural mainstay by falling host to a series of cultural exchanges.
Throughout three evenings in April, the luxury Italian house hosted a series of events featuring a film screening, musical performances, storytelling, poetry and cuisine in the custom space designed by Lebanese architect Carl Gerges. Contributors and attendees included Carl Gerges (Lebanese architect and musician), Shaima Al Tamimi (Yemeni East-African visual story-teller), Asma Al Badawi (Sudanese-British spoken-word poet), 'Mustafa the Poet' (Canadian poet and songwriter) and Samer Doumet (Lebanese singer, songwriter and music editor).
Thanks to its success, Bottega Veneta's The Square will next take place in Tokyo, San Francisco, Shanghai and Sao Paulo, offering a variety of cultural events to each city's fashion crowd.
