Matthieu Blazy caps his 360° Bottega Veneta A/W 24 visualisation with today’s launch of the maison’s fifth edition fanzine. Craft technicalities are the lynchpin of Bottega’s inner sanctum. So house logic dictates that Blazy get the band back together for an energetic romp through campaign imagery, an autumn-winter set design retrospective ‘On The Rocks’ and commemorative postcards. How novel.
The fanzine contains images from photographer Alec Soth’s extra-terrestrial campaign, shot in the US for this season. In addition, lucky fanzine recipients can flip through BTS images from the shoot plus hoard an exclusive postcard set with similar images from Soth’s Utah and Nevada on-location locations.
Over five volumes, Bottega Veneta’s trademark intrecciato takes a back seat as the zine re-presents its On the Rocks installation from Milan Design Week. In partnership with Fondation Le Corbusier, Matthieu Blazy commissioned a large cabin, whose smaller versions were part of his A/W 24 catwalk set design. The zine also includes Amsterdam-based photographer Vytautas Kumza photo compositions on key garments in the runway collection and a texture-based collage dedicated to the childhood of Detroit-born artist Judy Bowman.
The Bottega Veneta fanzine balances art and accessibility with a slipcase printed to mimic the torched wooden textures from the catwalk floor. In this ongoing zine series, Matthieu Blazy’s fashion for Bottega Veneta continues to transform itself as an iterative practice existing at a distance from fashion, yet because of fashion it becomes an original article. The zine can exist in your possession on a first-come, first-served basis in Bottega Veneta stores globally.
