Daniel Lee's 'New Bottega' continues its reign with images from the brands Pre-Spring 20 collection.

Bottega Veneta's Womens and Men's Pre-Spring 20 campaign launches today with images by Tyrone Lebon starring model Jean Campbell and cult designer Andre Walker.

Shot in an empty photographic studio, the campaign shows the brands latest collection through an exploration of high and low contrasts. Frequent collaborator Tyrone Lebon captures the images with a strong focus on accessories, including a picture of model Jean Campbell posing nude with an oversized gold chain. Citing Italian neo-realist cinema as an inspiration as well as 'the cult of an icon' the campaign explores the brand’s new DNA. The raw environment of the Lee designed set mixed with the glamour of the collection creates tension as seen in the portrait of Andre Walker staring down the viewfinder.

Lebon's images explore the narrative of Daniel Lee’s evolution with each collection, in scenes that feature rich colours of pine green, smoked blue, burnt caramel and black. Framing the photographs is a quote by film director Federico Fellini 'neorealism is not about what you show, but how you show it. It’s simply a way of looking at the world without preconceptions or prejudices.' This narrative is applied to inspire the imagery, the collection and the styling whilst also celebrating and subverting the iconography of modern luxury.

Speaking on the campaign, Lee explains his 'Bottega Veneta clothes are worn in context, mixed with real characters and live in the moment. They are elevated and every day and that’s what makes them powerful.'

These images follow on from Lee's first campaign as Creative Director with Bottega Veneta in 2018, his debut for the autumn pre-collection in December was met with praise for the former director of ready-to-wear designer at Phoebe Philo’s Céline. The collection and accompanying campaign images heralded a new and distinctive creative language for the heritage brand and showcased Lee's unique personal creative approach. Since taking the helm at the luxury house, Lee has brought a fresh perspective and new visual identity to the brand. Prior to his tenure beginning in 2018, the label was struggling to remain relevant in current fashion conversation following a reported slowdown in growth. Since taking over from Tomas Maier, who served as creative director of the Italian label for 17 years, Lee has helped Bottega Veneta to great success, opening a new chapter in the history of the house.

Lee’s stated mission when joining Bottega Veneta was to 'maintain the codes of the house—craftsmanship, quality and sophistication—while imbuing them with a new perspective and modernity.'
