Leather maestros, Bottega Veneta has unveiled it's third iteration of Bottega for Bottegas, the innovative and socially conscious initiative aimed at celebrating and supporting local artisans from diverse corners of the globe. This groundbreaking project underscores the brand's commitment to fostering creativity, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting sustainable craftsmanship.
The collaborative effort brings together Bottega Veneta's signature brand building with the design prowess and time-honored skills of artisans hailing from various regions worldwide. The initiative is not just a celebration of craftsmanship; it's a commitment to empower local communities and ensure the continuation of traditional artisanal practices.
As part of this initiative, Bottega Veneta has embarked on a global journey to discover and collaborate with skilled artisans in different countries. The fashion house believes in the significance of preserving and promoting the unique techniques and cultural narratives embedded in each artisan's work.
This time around artists like Cheng Tsung Feng from Taiwan, who has spent his life studying traditional craft techniques, will have his work featured both online, and at Bottega Veneta's Milan flagship, throughout December. Feng's handmade objects bridge the past and present, as he preserves various artisanal techniques that would otherwise be forgotten.
Feng is joined by Chinese woodworker Liu Wenhui who similarly specialises in the research, design, and development of techniques established by ancient Chinese architecture. Kitai Rhee, the third generation artisans who specialises in 'Bangpae Yeons' (historic Korean kites crafted from bamboo and paper called 'hanji') will also be showcased.
The final Bottega featured is that of Modiano. This historic Italian bottega was founded in 1868 by Saul Modiano and specialises in playing cards, tarot cards, and other paper products. Along with being featured, Modiano's internationally renowned cards will be sold exclusively with Bottega Veneta as a limited-edition set encased in leather.
