It’s a Barbie world in the September issue of British Vogue as the publication celebrates Barbie’s 60th anniversary with an exclusive feature.
Inspired by Barbie’s diverse range of dolls with varying looks and body types, British Vogue tapped six leading emerging designers to each dress a Barbie from the new line of Barbie Fashionista dolls in an outfit inspired by their collections. The chosen designers were Matty Bovan, Mowalola, Richard Malone, Art School, Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY, and Supriya Lele. Styled by Poppy Kain, the designers were photographed by Stas Komarovski with their respective Barbie.
Inside the special issue, which was guest edited by HRH The Duchess of Sussex, the designers describe their inspiration to Olivia Singer.
Model Adwoa Aboah and model/actress Yara Shahidi who grace the cover of the September issue were also created as Barbie dolls earlier in the year as part of the Barbie Shero programme celebrating inspirational women.
A unique and modern celebration of Barbie, a time honoured pop culture icon!
