'I’m often asked to explain why music plays such an importance in my collections,' says Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain. 'I usually reply that it just reflects how I grew up — since the two were so intertwined during my youth, I can’t really envision one art without a good helping of the other.'
It makes perfect sense then, that Rousteing is planning his second Balmain Festival (the first iteration happened in tandem with the Fête de la Musique in 2019) – that, along with the fact that Paris is slowly opening up its hospitality sector again.
The Balmain Music Festival is set to take place on the 28th and 29th of September at La Seine Musicale, an island located in the western suburbs of Paris. Although no musical acts have been announced just yet, there will be food trucks, bars and limited-edition Balmain merchandise stands. The first night of the festival (28th September) will be free and open to all. Balmain have paired with (RED) and the Global Fund to help finance their work to end AIDS. On the second night of the Balmain Festival (29th September), Olivier Rousteing will also present his latest women's and men's collection.
You can keep track of updates about the festival at balmain.com and on their Instagram.
