Avant-Garde Eyewear Pioneers Gentle Monster Celebrate Art and Science
Calling Korean label Gentle Monster an eyewear brand feels reductive, because their designs and projects are so much more daring than that. Whether its remixing countless fashion brands' DNA via collaborations with the likes of Maison Margiela, Heron Preston, Ambush and Marine Serre, making sunglasses with LCD screens and in-touch sensors, or curating a five-story concept store featuring numerous artist installations, Gentle Monster are never afraid to push boundaries. Their latest drop, a new line from their BOLD Collection, pays tribute to a history of innovation in art and science.
With boldness in mind, the sculptural, goggle silhouette designs are made even more striking by the star emblems fitted along the glasses' arms. Initially inspired by the 1966 art project 9 Evenings: Theatre and Engineering, where around 10 artists and 30 engineers brought together avant-garde theatre, dance and new technologies for the first time, this latest state of the art collection is a continuation of the first BOLD collection -'Galaxy of the 9 Evening’ launched last November
The collection goes on sale Friday 28 April on www.gentlemonster.com.
