Artist Jeff Cole Transforms Balmain’s Unicorn Trainer Into A Wild NFT

The equine-inspired Unicorn trainer is the latest in Olivier Rousteing’s innovative designs for the storied Maison, and to celebrate its launch he’s teamed up with artist Jeff Cole. The Chicago-born digital illustrator has build an online following thanks to his colourful illustrations and dynamic animations, making him the perfect choice to reimagine this instantly recognisable sculptural silhouette. Balmain Unicorn x Jeff Cole sees him morph these futuristic kicks into a hypnotic animation that's set to be minted as an NFT later this month. ‘Jeff clearly understood the spirit of our new Unicorn has much more to do with the elusive beauty and rare strength of the mythical creature than with any literal interpretation of its shape”, gushed Rousteing.

The digital piece is set to be the basis of the trainer’s campaign with a premiere set to take place at Balmain’s Madison Avenue boutique during this month’s NFT.NYC conference. After the animation is minted, the event will end with a bidding war for the work. Not only will the winner be leaving with the NFT secured on a digital wallet, but they’ll also receive a framed video set on a non-stop loop to be displayed at home. For those of us not fortunate enough to be in NYC during the launch, a special series of NFTs will be put to auction with bids being placed on an NFT webpage that's set to launch on the Balmain website after the event.
