A.P.C. Tackles Tenniscore With ASICS
Among A.P.C.’s string of prolific collaborations, including SACAI, Carhartt WIP, and JW Anderson, the one with ASICS on their classic GEL-SONOMA 15-50 x A.P.C. might just be the most practical. The ingenious logo created for this collaboration replaced the ‘A’ of A.P.C. with the renowned ‘a’ from ASICS’ logo. Ultimatley opening a dialogue between the two brands. For fans of the collaboration ASICS and A.P.C. reunite on their first head-to-toe tennis wear collection.
In the ultimate professional endorsement, the collection has already been spotted on tennis stars such as Alex de Minaur, Lorenzo Musetti, David Goffin, and Nishesh Basavareddy ahead of European Tennis Tour when the collection is set to drop. A curation of on and off court styles, both brand's commitments to functionality shines in pieces that embrace Japanese design principles. The collection’s blue and white palette incorporates Kasane, the Japanese art of layering, through subtle wrap details, as well as Shibori, the traditional Japanese tie-dye technique.
The tennis court has always been a source of sartorial inspiration, but recent years have seen sporty fashion take centre stage, thanks to Luca Guadagnino’s film Challengers. As the unofficial face of 'tenniscore', Zendaya rocked pleated skirts and Loewe's tennis ball heels during her press tour for the film. The collaboration ups the 'tenniscore' ante with 70s-inspired dresses and the refreshed special edition GEL-KAYANO™ 14 x A.P.C. sneakers. A.P.C.'s signature denim is also included in the mix, with a tote bag perfect for carrying a tennis racket.
