Designer Rick Owens has always favoured the avant-garde, from the women's and men's fashion collections he shows in Paris four times a year, to the futuristic furniture designs collected by the rich and famous. Taking Owens' iconic gothic, draped clothes, the artist SWAMPGOD reworked deadstock Rick Owens to create a capsule collection in collaboration with the designer for the END. clothing store.
Available to buy now, the collection is centred around the themes of responsibility and creativity. Having discovered SWAMPGOD, aka Arturo Boem, on Instagram, Owens invited the artist to lend his eye to Owens' designs, using pre-existing garments to illustrate that often the most exciting new work can be created out of the old. The fashion designer's business partner and muse Michèle Lamy recently discussed key pieces from the Rick Owens archive, such as the S/S 14 'vicious' sneaker, as part of the SHOWstudio x MACHINE-A x Byronesque project MACHINE-B which celebrates the enduring legacy of a brand's history.
