There's no denying the timelessness of adidas trainers. As one of the most popular brands in sportswear, the three-striped motif transcends time and trends and has been an agent of cultural change since they were first introduced in 1949. To celebrate the iconic design a new exhibition in Newcastle pays tribute to these enduring designs.
The showcase is an extension of the We Gave the World an Original. You Gave Us a Thousand Back campaign, which spotlights three timeless characters from the adi archive: the Superstar, the Gazelle, and the Samba. To celebrate these legendary models adidas SPEZIAL will offer a curated archive, showcasing limited edition releases and personally signed pairs by icons and adidas collaborators such as Stormzy, Run DMC, Lily Allen, the Gallagher brothers, and other influential figures who continue to shape and define creative culture.
The SPEZIAL archive provides a unique opportunity to explore the evolution of adidas footwear, showcasing pairs from the past and present, making it a must-visit for admirers of archive models. For sneakerheads and super fans, the exhibition also offers an exclusive sneak peek into the SPEZIAL A/W 23 footwear collection.
The exhibition will open on 27th October until 5th November at the Newcastle Contemporary Art Gallery (39 High Bridge, Newcastle, NE1 1EW).
