The Fashion Awards have a slightly different plan for this year's ceremony. To mark their return to a physical event, the event's format will change to include awards, performances and unique cultural highlights from the past year, reflecting and celebrating fashion's role at the intersection of culture. This year's accolades include 15 Leaders of Change presented under three categories: Environment, People and Creativity.

However, adding to the suspense of the in-person event, the BFC have recently announced the nominees for the eagerly-anticipated Designer of the Year Award and the BFC Foundation Award and, as ever, are a mixed bag. Nominees for Designer of the Year include Daniel Lee for Bottega Veneta, Demna Gvasalia for Balenciaga, Jonathan Anderson for JW Anderson & LOEWE Kim Jones for Dior Men & Fendi and Miuccia Prada & Raf Simons' Prada. In contrast, nominees for the BFC Foundation award include Bethany Williams, Bianca Saunders, Nensi Dojaka, Priya Ahluwalia and Richard Quinn - with the final winners revealed on the night. Over 1000 members of the international fashion industry were called upon to vote for this year's global accolades, defining the final nominees, winners and Leaders of Change.

Speaking of the new format, Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of BFC commented: 'I would like to congratulate all the nominees of The Fashion Awards 2021 presented by TikTok. Following a period of industry-wide reflection and self-evaluation we are incredibly excited to present this new approach to the Awards. The broadened focus aims to platform those who are creating positive change across all levels of the industry while continuing to spotlight global creative excellence. I look forward to celebrating everyone in the company of our brilliant global fashion family on the 29th November.'

The BFC's NEW WAVE: Creatives award will also be announced as part of the event, honouring 50 of the most innovative and inspiring young creative talent from around the world. You can buy general tickets for The Fashion Awards 2021 presented by TikTok here.
