The Pastels

Musician

The Pastels are a Glasgow-based indie music group, which originated in ramshackle style in 1981. Their almost accidental sound became extremely influential both on a local level and internationally, the band being credited for developing the Glaswegian music scene. After a hiatus at the end of the eighties and beginning of the nineties, The Pastels made acclaimed albums Mobile Safari and Illumination (Domino, 1995, 1997). Since another hiatus, The Pastels have made another musical leap, creating the soundtrack for the 2002 film The Last Great Wilderness. Outro is one of the sketches for that album, expertly re-processed and re-configured by Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine. Members of The Pastels have been founding or session members of bands Teenage Fanclub, BMX Bandits and Belle and Sebastien.
