Shelby Ivey Christie is a fashion and costume historian. Christie examines fashion through the lens of race, class and culture. Known online for her informative Twitter threads documenting the impact black Americans have had on the fashion industry, her work explores Black history and the intersections of fashion, politics and society.
Former digital marketer for Vogue US, Christie has an academic background in Race, Class & Culture and is currently undertaking an MA in Costume Studies at NYU. She has also contributed to Coveteur, the CFDA, W Magazine and InStyle, and partnered on work with the streaming service Tidal, for which she interviewed designer Dapper Dan, and with Netflix on the release of Beyoncè's 'Homecoming' 2019 feature.
