Rebecca Hains

Dr Rebecca Hains is a children's media culture expert. She is a professor of advertising and media studies at Salem State University, Massachusetts, where she is affiliated with the Centre for Childhood and Youth studies. Her research focuses on girls, women and media.

Dr Hains is the author of several books and has published essays in various scholarly anthologies and peer-reviewed journals, including Popular Communications and The International Journal of Girlhood Studies. She has spoken about her work at more than 30 national and international conferences and events, and serves on the advisory board of Media Literacy Now and the Brave Girls Alliance.

She holds a PhD in mass media and communication from Temple University in Philadelphia, as well as a BA from Emmanuel College and an MS from Boston University.
