Olivier Theyskens

Designer

Olivier Theyskens was born in Belgium where he studied at École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de la Cambre. Theyskens was previously artistic director for the houses of Nina Ricci and Rochas, and for the New York-based label Theory.

Theyskens dropped out from his studies at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de la Cambre to launch his namesake label in 1997, creating his first collections from his grandmother's bedsheets. Forced to close due to lacking financial support, Theyskens moved into costume design.

Following his exit from Theory, Olivier Theyskens relaunched his eponymous label in 2016. The designer tapped Maximiliano Nicolelli as CEO, bringing previous experience from LVMH. Theyskens was awarded the Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti International Award by the CFDA, and has also been the focus of two solo exhibitions in Antwerp and Calais.
