Olatunde Alara is an experimental visual artist from Lagos. Spending his formative years in England, Alara later returned to Lagos in 2011 where he is now based.
Self-trained, Alara's only artistic education stemmed from his schooling in London. Alara finds inspiration for his works in graffiti and street art.
Driven by a DIY ethos, Alara has an interest in challenging the conservative attitudes of a Lagos art scene they see as still being bound by respectability politics and profit, through various medium and such as drawings, performance art, site-specific installations, collages, and public art, to recenter critical thought as an important aspect of art-making in Nigeria.
