Nilgin Yusuf is a fashion writer based in London. She graduated with a BA in Fashion Communication & Promotion from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 1988. After winning the Vogue New Talent and Guardian Fashion Writing competitions, she went to work at Elle as their fashion writer. She has spent the past thirty years writing about fashion for national magazines and newspapers, notably as fashion writer at the Daily Telegraph and fashion editor at The Sunday Times. Her work spans print, film curation, exhibition concepts and events.
She ran the Post Graduate Certificate in Fashion and Lifestyle Journalism at the London College of Fashion, where she was also Director of Programmes in Media. She completed an MA in Fashion History and Culture entitled Undressing the Criminal Icon, 1959-1969 and in 2020 began studying for a BA in Creative Writing at Birkbeck, University of London.
Yusuf has published two books; Fashion's Front Line: Fashion Show Photography from the Runway to Backstage (2016) and Georgina von Etzdorf (1998).
