Belgian photographer Jean-François Carly came to London at the end of the 1990s, and has published work in Visionaire (Visionaire's Fashion: 2001 and V), Arena, Arena Homme Plus, GQ, Deliciae Vitae (DV), Exit and Dutch. His images have appeared in The London Fashion Book (Thames & Hudson) and Fashion Now (Phaidon).

Carly's work has been exhibited in major international exhibitions showcasing and investigating fashion image-making, including: Imperfect Beauty: The Making of Contemporary Fashion Photographs, V&A, London, 2000; Chic Clicks: Creativity and Commerce in Commerce in Contemporary Fashion Photography, ICA, Boston, 2002; and Bravehearts: Men in Skirts, The Costume Institute, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 2003. The photographer also made a solo presentation of a personal back-stage imagery project during London Fashion Week 2001 for the British Fashion Council exhibition.
