Ginette Vincendeau is Professor of Film Studies at King's College London, a regular contributor to Sight & Sound and the editor of The Encyclopedia of European Cinema. Vincendeau takes particular interest in French movie stars, European cinema, feminist film theory and film noir, and she was awarded Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1998 for services to French culture. The renowned academic has authored biographies such as Brigitte Bardot: The Life, The Legend, The Movies, and Jean-Pierre Melville: 'An American in Paris'.
