DANSHAN

Designer

Founded by designers Danxia Liu and Shan Peng Wong, DANSHAN is a progressive brand that explores the intricacies of repressive masculinity, gender dynamics and how these correlate with fashion.

The pair met in their foundation year, proceeding to graduate in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins, then moving on to work for the same company. Following this the pair set up DANSHAN, drawing upon their life experiences to inspire the collections.

The clothes they create are often made of satin and silks and they look at ways to make a masculine silhouette to become effeminate, without breaking the austere boundaries that define menswear.

The pair debuted their collection during London Collection's Men's S/S 17, the show featuring satin silks and heavy draping, celebrating the oft-ignored aspects of male vulnerability.
