Apurva Asrani

Film Editor

Apurva Asrani is an award-winning editor and film director based in India. Asrani began his career cutting the promos of feature films like Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Khamoshi and went on to edit full-length features. His editing credits include Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya (1998), for which he won the Filmfare Award in 1998 and Sunhil Sippy’s Snip (2000) for which he won a National Award in 2001.

Asrani’s editing credits also include Anupam Kher’s Om Jai Jagadish (2002), Kallpana Lajmi’s Kyon? (2003) and the highly-acclaimed Chhal (2002) for which he was nominated for best editor at the Zee Cine Awards the same year. The editor has collaborated extensively with director Nagesh Kukunoor as an editor on his films Tasveer 8x10 (2009) and Aashayein (2010). He has edited and directed the award-winning pop promos for the UK-based Partners In Rhyme’s album, Tera Mera Pyar and also produced, written and directed several horror films for Sab TV’s Khauff slot.

Asrani has also worked extensively as a writer for the British stage. He has co-written and co-directed Bollywood: Yet Another Love Story, a spoof on Hindi films, and has co-written the dialogue for the hugely successful The Deranged Marriage. In 2019, he edited four episodes of the TV series Made in Heaven.
