Anna Piaggi

Fashion Editor

Anna Piaggi (1931-2012) was an Italian fashion journalist and editor. Noted for her exuberant style and unmatched knowledge of fashion history, Piaggi's private collection of clothing was exhibited in Anna Piaggi: Fashion-ology at the Victoria & Albert Museum in 2006.

Previously the fashion editor for Arianna magazine, editor-in-chief of Vanity and a contributor to various influential Italian fashion publications, Piaggi was perhaps best known for her 'double pages' in Vogue Italia, where she was creative consultant from 1988. Also known as doppie pagine, these were collected in a book, Fashion Algebra, published in 1998.

Piaggi was also a muse and confidant to the late Karl Lagerfeld, who published his sketches of Piaggi's outfits in A Fashion Journal: A Visual Record of Anna Piaggi's Creative Dressing and Self-Editing (1986).

Piaggi passed away in August 2012.
