Oribe Canales (1956-2018) known simply as Oribe, was a Cuban-born hair stylist based in the United States. He opened his first salon in New York in 1987 with a team of talented stylists and colourists, and quickly attracted celebrity clients including Jennifer Lopez, Sofia Loren, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Penelope Cruz. Oribe worked with photographers such as Richard Avedon, Steven Meisel, Nick Knight, Mert & Marcus, Irving Penn, Annie Leibowitz, Steven Klein, Mario Testino and Francesco Scavullo to create fashion and beauty stories for magazines including Vogue, ELLE, Harper's Bazaar, GQ, Allure, Cosmopolitan and Glamour. He also contributed to catwalk hair looks for design houses including Versace, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Thierry Mugler, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Valentino, Chanel, Armani and Louis Vuitton.
