Ariane Koek
Producer
Ariane Koek is an international producer, curator, writer and strategic consultant. As an expert in arts, science and technology Koek lectures and runs workshops on creativity and interdisciplinary working.
For her work across culture, as CEO of the Arvon Foundation for Creative Writing and as an award winning producer at BBC radio and television, Koek was awarded a Clore Fellowship in 2008.
From 2009-2015, she initiated, designed and directed Arts At Cern, at the world's largest particle physics laboratory outside Geneva. During Koek's tenure, Iris Van Herpen was invited as a Visiting Artist in 2014; this visit inspired van Herpen's Spring/Summer 2015 collection, Magnetic Motions.
Koek is also an External Policy Advisor on digital arts, science and innovation to the European Commission’s ICT Directorate as well as being Expert Advisor and Board member for the new arts/science programme at the European Commission's Environmental science and policy hub, the Joint Research Centre (JRC), at their laboratory based at Ispra, Italy. She is also on the Advisory Boards of HEK (House of Electronic Arts, Basel) and the CERN Cultural programme.
In September 2017, Koek became the founding director of Science Gallery Venice. In 2018, she curated an exhibition, Entangle / Physics and the Artistic Imagination, on the inspiration of particle physics in contemporary art at Bildmuseet, Umea, Sweden.
