Andy Holden

Artist

Andy Holden is a British artist. Holden is the son of leading ornithologist Peter Holden. Holden trained at Cambridge Regional College as well as Goldsmiths, University of London and worked as an assistant to Jason Rhoades. His Pyramid Piece, an enormous knitted boulder, was exhibited in the Art Now space at Tate Britain from 8 January to 10 April 2010. The artwork was created out of his guilt for accidentally stealing a piece of the Pyramid at Giza as a child. Holden later returned the piece and was praised by the director of the Great Pyramid of Giza Research Association for helping to raise awareness of the need to preserve historic sites.

Andy Holden has exhibited internationally in group and solo shows at institutions including Shetland Arts, Shetland, Bristol Museum, Somerset House, London, Leeds Art Gallery, Turner Contemporary, Margate and Venice Biannale.
