Set in the National Theatre building for the second year running, Roland Mouret’s S/S 18 show was a welcome contrast to the brutalist surroundings. This was a collection brimming with soft and feminine silhouettes, warming tones of navy and orange, and abstract prints.

This season Mouret was sending a message of sybaritic love; Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You repeatedly played overhead in every version from Lauryn Hill to Petula Clark, Mouret announced his new perfume 'Une Amourette' - 'flirting' in French - which is to be sprayed on the inner thigh, and models were adorned with sculptural medallions in the shape of anatomical hearts, created by Mouret’s husband James Webster. This was a dreamy romance, a French love affair.

In an act of amour, Mouret had moved away from the structured formats of A/W 17, this season celebrating women’s form with delicate shapes and diaphanous linens that drew the eye to the waist and hips. Frayed fringing on hemlines and triangular cuts made it seem as if models had been caught in a summer breeze as they walked. Floral prints felt reminiscent of a trip abroad. One thought of a woman in love and on vacation, glowing with the sun, feeling free.

The stand-out look was elegant in its appeared simplicity - a creamy white dress with pinched darting on the waist felt both modern and familiar. The drawstring neckline - which appeared in variation throughout this collection - allows the wearer to adjust the garment to suit her day-to-day. Charming and practical.

Eschewing trend-led design, this collection was an homage to the woman who too renounces typical notions of identity and sexuality. No doubt, women will feel seductive, strong and impassioned when wearing these truly beautiful looks.
