One of the hottest rooms in Milan sizzled - and the collections within its walls offered an elegant flamenco take on Spring/Summer 2016. White elasticated blousons and cerulean blue tiered chemises added a cotton crisp breeziness to knotted leather trousers and skirts. The keys on a piano meandered in and out of the sound of bird song, resounding with this concise yet emotive collection. Surfaces resembled flattened origami folds. Later in the collection, flat panels were tied together with multiple bows and knots.
Dropped ruffles on skirts in orange and raspberry were Mediterranean señorita. Never too literal in its Hispanic referencing, extended matador capes arrived within the collection, and we didn't bat an eyelid. Concertina knits, where black peeped through from within emerald green or raspberry, held a linear line. Large spherical pearls emphasised the architectural aesthetic. Ostrich feathers and marabou added an aviary texture to the frame of black evening dresses. Although a little too fussy for some, the Ferragamo customer will no doubt look to flutter to dinner in such pieces. Waterfall waves of knitwear arrived, and the colour palette widened to bottle green, yellow and a wonderful chartreuse. A striking cream version of the long line cape rounded things of. Like a toile, it was where it all must have began.
