The soundtrack to today's Missoni show in Milan was a foreign-language remix of Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares To You. In a way, that applies fittingly to the label - Missoni and the family behind it plough quite a singular furrow in that their clothes are idiosyncratic and unmistakable among their Italian peers.
Those hallmark stripes, zigzags and chevrons of theirs came as faded bands of ombre pastels for Spring/Summer 2015 - lilac, pistachio and evening primrose on bouncing and tensile crochet dresses and tanks. There were peasant-style trapeze shapes and tiers on long skirts and pinafores, while oversized silk shirts were decorated with an abstract Matisse-inspired print that featured on headscarves and turbans too.
Pieces were light and airy, perfect for spring - even though Angela Missoni hedged her bets and threw in a couple of anoraks too.
