Michael Kors indulged in some good old American blue sky thinking this morning so sunny it rivalled the beautiful view sprawled below the floor-to-ceiling windows of Spring Studios. We were served a healty dose of 'optimistic chic' as the designer called it and who wouldn’t want to start their day with an extra side of that, please?
Maggie Rizer opened the show in a simple white tee tucked into a white fil coupe skirt that dipped below the knee. A white hand-knit mohair pullover here, a line fine knit there and the message was clear as day: Michael says take it easy come spring. Embroidered buttercups, a field of them on a Mikado skirt, 3D daffodil appliques and a camellia print on a pyjama suit, geraniums on a tie-front dress, marigold embroidery on a tulle skirt – it was all kept from getting too overtly sweet by blue poplin shirts with extra wide cuffs, tan belts and flat sandals. The girls looked pretty and sun-kissed, their hair in messy low-slung braids and Michael practically skipped down the runway at the end. Life is good chez Kors.
