Acne is a label that isn’t afraid to shock. In fact, Jonny Johansson quite likes offending certain sensibilities – witness this label’s consistent anti-fit, ‘challenging’ manifesto. But for Spring/Summer 2015, this was reined in a bit – the clothes were altogether more accessible. It’s just that they were covered in pictures of genitalia.
The collection took a sort of Sexy Beast theme, all bright and bold colours with a touch of Seventies porn star thrown in by way of fitted flares and terry towelling mini-dresses with cutaway backs. There was tailoring took, structured and ever so slightly skewed as is the Acne way, but it came as silk printed with a motif that was half vegetables, half patchworked glimpses of bums and other bits. It was… interesting.
Ultimately, the Acne customer is fearless enough not to worry about the bums; she’ll probably have a good laugh at them. But she might wonder what the courgettes are all about.
