Cheap vendors of floaty vacation wear for tourists at inexpensive sunny holiday destinations all over the world have no idea what a gold mine they’re currently sitting on. In London, more than a few beach dresses and pool sandals have made their way to the catwalks, and at Unique – the mighty Topshop trendsetter – the holiday was everlasting. Skimpy dresses, mini shorts and baggy jumpsuits in cracked tile prints glided down the grassy runway of this season’s NewGen venue in Regent’s Park on the backs of various model it-girls, backed up by a soundtrack of world-ish music.
There was a global awareness vibe to the whole thing, but just because the Unique girl’s gone all earthy on us with her newfound appreciation for world harmony and the natural elements and what not doesn’t mean she can’t rock a cute outfit, a sun-kissed complexion, and a beachy blow-dry styled casually to perfection. Bless the model whose mascara started running down her face in a single perfect goth tear the minute she stepped out on the catwalk, but it brought just the right amount of attitude to all the gap year frolicking.
